This vibrant vintage Bolivian textile is a striking example of Andean folk artistry, woven with vivid stripes of red, orange, magenta, and white. Crafted using traditional techniques, the textile features intricate symbolic motifs, including geometric patterns, zigzags, animals, and stylised human figures, each representing cultural beliefs and rituals of the indigenous Aymara or Quechua communities. The alternating vertical bands create a rhythmic composition that reflects the rich heritage of the Andes. Woven from wool or a wool blend, this piece was likely used as a carrying cloth (aguayo) or as a ceremonial textile.
