This beautiful vintage Sarkoy Kilim is a vibrant expression of Anatolian flatweave artistry, handwoven in the Thracian region of Turkey. The central field bursts with a bold red backdrop, upon which a vertical arrangement of stylised floral bouquets or rosettes unfurls in vivid tones of green, burgundy, white, and soft ochre, creating a rhythmic and cheerful visual flow.
Framing the composition is a lively ivory border adorned with a sequence of multicoloured geometric motifs, characteristic of the Sarkoy weaving tradition. These motifs, formed by opposing arrowhead or butterfly shapes, echo tribal symbolism while adding a kaleidoscopic energy to the piece.
Woven in pure wool, the kilim features a flat texture with crisp, interlocking edges and intense graphic clarity.
